Bolton Sea Cadets make a difference to young lives, and Hodgkinson Bennis was delighted to help them out with a free boiler service.
It’s been a tough year for many charities and other national organisations that provide services to young people. Of course, many of them have been unable to run their services, as public spaces have been closed. But they’ve also been starved of cash, as fewer people have been able to fundraise while we’ve all been asked to stay home. Here at Hodgkinson Bennis, we do what we can to give something back to local communities, both as individuals and as a company. And that’s just what we did for Bolton Sea Cadets.
Bolton Sea Cadets help young lives
We were approached by a member of Bolton District Freemasons to see if we could help Bolton Sea Cadets. The charity provides young people with a unique opportunity to learn through collaborative activities that will set them up for later in life. From sailing, windsurfing and powerboating, to rock climbing, camping, and music, Bolton Sea Cadets aims to improve young people’s lives. By promoting teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline and honesty, they teach young people how to be the best version of themselves.
As part of the wider national Sea Cadets charity, Bolton Sea Cadets has really been struggling over the past year, given the restrictions which they’ve faced. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they’ve unfortunately been unable to meet. And in the meantime, they needed a new gas safety certificate for their building, in order to reopen and offer their services once again.
A free service and gas safety certificate – and the freedom to reopen a valued service
Here at Hodgkinson Bennis, we were delighted to be able to answer the call. We provided an engineer to carry out a full service to the boiler plant pro bono. And we updated their gas safety certificate without charge so that they’re able to comply with regulations. Now’s just the time to give something back to local communities. We must all pull together in tricky times – and now Bolton Sea Cadets can pull together once again too.
