Season’s heatings to all our clients, staff, and followers

Whatever the weather this festive season, we can focus on keeping workplaces warm and supplied with hot water

Hodgkinson Bennis has a range of industrial and commercial boiler and HVAC services
Think about keeping workplaces warm, well-supplied with hot water, and well-ventilated during the festive season

At this time of year, the weather outside might well be frightful, as the old song puts it. Here at Hodgkinson Bennis, we can help the inside of your organisation’s premises stay heated, supplied with hot water, dry, and well-ventilated. It’s essential so that you can deliver a safe and healthy workplace. And it’s important to think of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) as a coherent system. With our 150-year history, we can design, install, commission, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC and boiler systems. In this blog, we’re providing a seasonal overview of our services.

Commercial and industrial HVAC and boilers that suit your needs

Given the current economic climate, we know that most organisations aren’t focusing on comprehensive new installations, whether that’s a new boiler or an entire HVAC refit. That doesn’t mean we can’t provide our expertise in design and installation. We can work with what you already have in order to resolve such issues as different elements of HVAC operating in opposition to each other, rather than working coherently. Whether your system is commercial or industrial, some areas in a building may be being heated while others are cooled. For operational reasons, it can be difficult to establish proper zoning between the various areas.

Take for instance the air handling unit (AHU), the central element which regulates and circulates air. The AHU takes in outside air, reconditions it and supplies it as fresh air to the air-conditioned room. It does so by filtering, and either heating or cooling it. Even if we haven’t designed your entire HVAC system, we can install, test and commission an AHU should you need one. And our maintenance engineers will keep the unit working by putting together a maintenance schedule.

Greater efficiency through better control systems and pipework

However, temperature is only one aspect of control systems; organisations are increasingly adopting more comprehensive building management system (BMS) for their buildings. With modern technology, it’s possible to monitor and manage the mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical services across a facility. Such services can include power, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, physical access control, pumping stations, lifts, and lights. The data for these controls is consolidated into a single system to improve reporting, information management and decision-making. And it allows facility-wide insight for better performance by controlling all underlying systems from a single workstation.

Pipework is also essential to provide for the highest levels of efficiency. In older buildings in particular, there can be redundancies that mean you have to run taps to get hot water. Increased point-of-use heaters and more rational pipework can help resolve this. And we can make sure that pipes and valves continue to operate at their best too.

Making plans for your inspecting and maintaining HVAC and boilers in 2023

Given the imperatives around climate change it’s important to think about energy efficiency in your HVAC systems, from boilers to AHUs. But of course, it’s also good for your bottom line to ensure that all your equipment is kept operating at peak efficiency. Our teams can cover such issues as insurance inspections, whichever system you use, from Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) compliance to gas safety certificates. And we can work with you to devise planned preventive maintenance (PPM) regimes that will stop your systems getting into trouble, whatever the weather. Whatever the sector, we’ve got you covered.

This year, we’re wishing all our staff, clients, and followers season’s heatings! Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year to come.
